Debbie's 10k for Grace Eyre
Debbie Pellett
My Story
I have signed up to run the Brighton 10K in aid of the Grace Eyre Foundation.
The Grace Eyre Foundation are a Brighton-based charity supporting adults with a learning disability and/or autism across Sussex and I just so happen to work for this amazing charity.
I started working for Grace Eyre in 2020. It was my first time working for a disability charity and one of the best decisions I've ever made.
What I've learned over the past 4 years is that Grace Eyre isn't a disability charity at all. It's an ability charity. They focus on the abilities and potential that everyone has to offer and through various projects they work to develop people's abilities, inspiring and encouraging them to fulfil their potential and achieve their goals and ambitions without judgement or limitation.
Projects such as the employment project which helps get people into work, Travel Buddy which gives people the skills to travel safely and independently, Pioneer Arts which showcases and celebrates their artistic voices and many more incredible opportunities.
It's because of the support and generosity of people making donations that these projects happen. It's my job as Fundraising Manager to make sure we can keep these projects going by raising vital funds. I'm always asking other people to do things to help raise money and so it seems only fair that I do something myself.
Two weeks isn't long to get ready for the 10k, but your donations will give me the motivation needed to get me over the line. Please give generously and join us in Brighton on 7th April to cheer on all the people taking part in the 10k and marathon.
Thank you!
